The Great Room – A Sanctuary of Light, History, and Harmony

The Great Room is truly the heart of the estate—a breathtaking space with a chapel-like presence that immediately inspires awe. Its open-beam ceiling is adorned with hand-carved rosettes, a stunning architectural detail that draws the eye upward and speaks to the craftsmanship of a bygone era.

Once used by Margaret Stewart and the Benbow sisters as a sacred gathering place to study and reflect on the religion of their choice, the room carries a quiet reverence. A few pieces of original furniture still grace the space, offering an authentic glimpse into its historic past.

At the far end, grand doors open to the east lawn, flooding the room with morning light and creating a seamless connection between the interior and the natural beauty beyond.

This is more than just a room—it’s a space that breathes with history, grace, and a sense of purpose.
